COAL FROM INDONESIA
PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) operates a coal mine in Sengata East
Kalimantan and is one of the largest export coal mines in the world.
Coal Production in 2006 was 38 million tones and there are plans for
further expansion in 2007 and beyond.
In material movement terms, KPC is also one of the largest open pit
mines in the world with a fleet of over 200 haul trucks and 30 shovels
moving over 2 millions tones of material per day
An opportunity exist for a seasoned, high caliber, professional to
join the Company with job assignment in Sengata - East Kalimantan for
the position of:
GENERAL MANAGER MINING OPERATION (Code : GMMO)
Main elements of the position description include:
• Develop and obtain approval from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
and Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Mining Operation Division annual
physical, financial and manpower plan.
• Develop Annually the MOD context statement in line with company
context and communicate this statement with Managers and all staff in
this Division.
• Develop and gain approval from CEO and COO for MOD key process and
improvement tasks and the associated key performance measures required
the achieved the MOD annual plan.
• Participate in and constructively contribute to meetings with the
CEO, COO and the General Management team to report on performance
against plan, highlight MOD issues and develop comprehensive
Company-Wide strategic, Operational and tactical plans.
• Monitor MOD progress to assess production levels against plan,
monitor actual expenditure against plan, investigate and rectify any
variances required to achieve MOD objectives.
• Monitor MOD activities to maintain current knowledge of work issues
and to improve the effectiveness of tools/disciplines employed.
• Promote and reinforce compliance with KPC's safety rules and
regulations and Environmental Management Policy by improving
employee's awareness, monitoring mine plans and operational activities
to identify non conformance and taking the appropriate corrective
measures to ensure compliance with KPC standards.
• Maintain up to date knowledge of mining industry initiatives and
technological innovations to implement within MOD to improve process
performance.
• Work collaboratively with peers and other representatives from all
the KPC's Divisions for example marketing to resolve customer's
quality/quantity issues, Mining Support Division to resolve equipment
performance issues and Processing & Infrastructure Division to resolve
coal supply issues.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Tertiary qualification in Mining/Civil/Geology engineering from a
reputable university with extensive experience and proven skill in the
mining industry, preferably in open-cut coal mining encompassing a
broad range of practical production, maintenance, technical and people
management issue.
• Candidate must have experience with at least 3 years in the General
Manager level/role.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Hold Chief Mine Technical Certificate is mandatory.
• Strong people management/leadership skills.
• Passed Operational Supervisor Certification Assessment with at least
Madya.
• Commitment to KPC safety and environment regulations.
